Master Planning (Core Shell and Fit-Out Design)

dsa ENGINEERING provided a great deal of both the Shell + Core and fit-out designs for numerous buildings at Canary Wharf. Our core and shell designs include the Founders Court No.3, 4 and 6 buildings, the DS-2 tower, and the 17 Columbus Courtyard buildings. We provided the fit-out designs for the 300,000 square feet Texaco Headquarters, the 300,000 square feet London Underground Headquarters, the base building modifications for the 300,000 square feet American Express fit-out, the 50,000 square feet Bear Stearns offices and the 50,000 square feet State Street Bank offices.

All of the Canary Wharf buildings were designed from the start as financial buildings. Each building has two (2) extra-height floors suitable for trading (with 600mm raised floors and 3.0 metre net floor-to-ceiling heights) and all infrastructure ready for a highly serviced financial tenant. There are two separate electrical feeds into each building from a ring main which is fed by 2 separate sub-stations.

dsa ENGINEERING was involved in the planning of the entire Canary Wharf complex. We provided the infrastructure M&E design and developed the M&E brief for the project. In addition, we developed the life-safety systems approach for the Section 20 buildings, as each had an atrium.

A great deal of developmental work was undertaken by the DSA engineers on behalf of the developer to get these buildings through the planning and statutory approval processes.
